Briefly

Briefly is a solo performance that delves into the weight and consequence of choices influenced by inevitable forces. The work prompts a reflection on their profound impact on individuals through the lens of bodily constraints and, by consequence, the rediscovery of the protective instincts of the heart. The work explores a reality that is both universal and personal, highlighting themes such as solitude, fear and freedom. Béatrice blurs the boundaries between narration and the abstract, offering a nuanced perspective on the interplay of emotions and corporeal experience.

“Briefly”, kaçınılmaz güçlerin etkisiyle yapılan seçimlerin ağırlığını ve sonuçlarını irdeleyen bir solo performanstır. Bedensel kısıtlamalar bağlamında bu seçimlerin bireyler üzerindeki derin etkisini düşünmeye sevk eder ve dolayısıyla kalbin koruyucu içgüdülerinin yeniden keşfedilmesini sağlar. Hem evrensel hem de kişisel bir gerçekliği keşfederek yalnızlık, korku ve özgürlük gibi temaları ön plana çıkarır. Béatrice, anlatım ile soyutluk arasındaki sınırları bulanıklaştırarak, duygular ile bedensel deneyimin etkileşimine dair incelikli bir bakış açısı sunar.

Toujours de 3/4 face!

According to Johnny Cadillac, a former Belgian karate champion, the “3/4 face” stance is the ultimate defensive position: a posture so precise that it inevitably reveals a drive for perfection and a profound desire for control. Loraine Dambermont appropriates this principle and, through a live tutorial, unveils her most effective self-defence techniques.

Toujours de 3/4 face! is a 20-minute, high-energy solo performance presented as a survival guide infused with humour. Through movement, Loraine Dambermont also explores the complexities of Belgian identity, pushing every gesture to the point of self-parody.

The performance tests both the physical and mental virtuosity of the performer, pushing the limits of a constrained body through a marathon of hyper-fast movement and the extreme precision of its musicality.

Eski Belçikalı karate şampiyonu Johnny Cadillac’a göre, 3/4 face duruşu en üstün savunma pozisyonudur: Mükemmelliğe duyulan arzuyu ve derin bir kontrol ihtiyacını kaçınılmaz biçimde açığa vuran son derece hassas bir duruş. Loraine Dambermont bu ilkeyi sahipleniyor ve canlı bir eğitim seansıyla en etkili öz savunma tekniklerini izleyiciyle paylaşıyor.

Toujours de 3/4 face!, mizahla harmanlanmış bir hayatta kalma rehberi olarak kurgulanmış, 20 dakikalık yüksek tempolu bir solo performans. Loraine Dambermont, hareket aracılığıyla Belçika kimliğinin çok katmanlı yapısını da ele alıyor; her jesti ve hareketi öz-ironinin sınırlarına kadar taşıyor.

Performans, aşırı hızlı hareketler ve onların müzikal yapısının getirdiği kusursuz keskinlikle bir maraton oluşturarak, performansçının hem fiziksel hem de zihinsel ustalığının sınırlarını zorluyor.
